Hylo is open-source, non-profit, and driven by participatory design with real-world groups at the forefront of regenerative agriculture, community resilience, peer learning, equity, inclusive capital, and place-based organizing.

The tech has many unique aspects such as nested groups and cross-group collaboration, which lead to emergent cooperation between groups — generating broader coalitions with more power to address common goals.

Hylo is more than a codebase; we are community leaders and prosocial facilitators that guide our member groups on best practices in community stewardship. Particularly under this current administration, we have to recognize that big government is not going to act quickly enough to head off catastrophic climate change nor do they find it profitable to address extreme economic inequality. 


The obvious conclusion is to organize and collectively take action focusing on the right steps we can take in our own communities and expanding from there. 


Until now, the question of how we organize and effectively and efficiently connect has been unanswered. That’s why we created Connection Engine. 


Connection Engine is designed to bring the 300+ mostly siloed movements together using specific core principles and a unique platform. The platform is Hylo open source free community connector. Our core principles are:

-practical actions over never-ending deliberation
