A Brief Overview of That Better World

Just as the name suggests, this channel is dedicated to building a better world and creating a better future for younger generations.

We focus on four main areas:

Equality: Collaborative democratic action, rooted in social equity, is the key to building a better world. Not just in the voting booth—but in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities.

Economy: A purpose-driven, collaborative wellbeing economy isn't just possible. It's necessary for the future survival of humankind and all life on Earth.

Energy: We must build a decentralized, cooperatively owned, renewable energy grid to replace the current energy system—an insanely expensive and wildly inefficient fossil fuel based monstrosity that's poisoning and overheating the planet while simultaneously killing millions of people every year.

Ecology: If you don't have a direct internal sense of what a clear and present danger climate change poses to humanity's survival, this is where you establish that barometer. There are real, working solutions to global warming, and you can find them here.

We recognize that most of our elected leaders, and our government at large, are not acting in the best interests of We the People or life on this planet. We acknowledge that it's up to us to move forward and take action if we want to make things better. And we commit to being responsible for doing the work needed to build that new world.

That's us in a nutshell.

A Major Shift in Focus for That Better World

Our mission hasn't changed. Nor will it. But our focus is shifting—and it's shifting now.

Up until now, this channel has been dedicated to long-term strategic planning for building a better world. The thousand-foot view. Building a new economy, new energy grid, large-scale ecological remedies.

Now that we have a broad-strokes strategy, it's time to focus on you and me, as individuals.

Consider: What does it take for us to take unified action and build that better world?

It starts with the individual. It starts with you and it starts with me. We have to get off the couch. Get off our phones. Get out of the house and take action.

But what action?

What are you going to do?

If you truly want to be a leader in this movement—to make a difference and move the needle—you will need to get clear about your purpose, create a mission, and build a team to fulfill that mission. Every mission requires a specific skillset and a specific mindset. That's what we're going to focus on. We need a massive cohort of purposeful leaders. And we need them yesterday.

So, starting now, we will focus on:

  • Breaking down the obstacles to action
  • Finding our individual purpose—the place where we each feel called to take action
  • Creating a mission
  • Learning the skills and adopting the mindset necessary to fulfill that mission
  • Building a team
  • Getting in the game

A Quick Update on The Courage to Build a Better World

It's been a long haul, but we're almost done with the book!

I recently posted Part 6, which is a Blueprint for Building That Better World and a distillation of our long-term strategy.

Next up: Part 7, Closing Arguments.

This part of the book is going to be really interesting. I'll be writing some chapters, but I've invited several other writers to lend their voices to this conversation. Stay tuned—there's excellent content coming. Most of it (especially the essays written by my kids) is way better than anything I could write myself. Don't judge me. I'm trying.
